I ART FRAZER IRVING

Here’s a character sketch for an issue of The Shade that is slated to see print during summer 2012. In the early days my character sketches were rough, hurried and pretty useless as I would modify the overall form as I refined the method used to render them, but since last year I have decided to take a new path and make these “sketches” a little more complete. This chappy gave me a lot of hassle as each idea I had required far more layers than I would have liked and would have been impossible to draw from several angles without the use of a model. Eventually I settled on this design which is practical and does the trick. I’ll wager some of the smaller details will change before the pages actually get drawn, but for now I’m happy with how it all looks.
