Yup, That’s me alright, tho I feel I must also draw attention to the sterling work of designer John J. Hill on the book, using his magic to make me look good.

comichistorian:

A great NYCC 2014 sketch from frazerirving of Marceline and my two kids with it.

Real sketches are rare as hen’s teeth these days due to my digital manipulations, so I’m dead chuffed that this one has a happy audience and nice shiny frame to keep it safe.

Hello again.
NYCC was a blast, and the image above sums up one of my fave parts of American cons namely the breakfasts! Yum yum yum.
Hello to those who came to get sketches or copies of Annihilator signed, apologies to anyone who I missed. It was busy as usual and nothing was planned in advance so it’s to be expected that some of us passed each other like ships in the night.
The aforementioned breakfast image is taken from Annihilator issue 2 which can be purchased from your comics retailer (you may have missed it by now tho as it did seem to sell out) or from digital outlets such as Comixology.
I have now to wrestle with the mighty beast that is jet-lag, so I’ll sign off for now and dream of noisy street and honking car horns…

Goodness gracious, it’s that time of the year again when I do my “get out of the house" thing big style by visiting New York for the magnificent Comicon they have at the Javitz centre. Of course, this means that I’ve been drawing all night to get as much done before I take 4 days out to recharge the karmic batteries, taste some American cuisine, and mingle with humans.

Sadly I can’t show any of this yet (oboy oboy tho, I’m super stoked about what I’m doodling) so instead of that, I will display 3 blue pictures.

1. Annihilator issue 1 2nd printing. A slight tweaking of the hues to turn sweltering summer desert heat into magical Van Gogh-tastic desert twighlight. Be sure to hunt this one down, completists.

2. Annihilator issue 3 cover. Ghosts!!! Or spooky smoke. YOU DECIDE until next month when u can actually read it. WARNING: LOTS OF BLUE.

3, Annihilator issue 4 cover. My fave of the issues so far, this may or may not be FULL OF STARS. You will have the luxury of discovering which way it falls in december when this issue sees print.

The final 2 covers can wait until we are closer to the time, plus they haven’t been solicited yet so I’m not allowed to show them.

I gotta pack. Be good, reblog, rejoice.

Tis the sunday before NYCC and I’m here to re-pimp issue 2 of ANNIHILATOR which goes on sale this wednesday, 8th october. Issue 1 went back to print already (with a colour-tweaked revised cover for the completists out there) and I’m hoping that everyone enjoyed it enough to want more.
The covers to the next 3 issues are also online but I’ll hold back my logo-less versions as a reminder just before the comics see publication. If u want the pure stuff, come to the source. I’ll fix you up alright.

I must asleep now my darlings, for I must doodle EXTRA HARD tomorrow  or else the gods will cause a commotion ‘pon mount Olympus. I do this for you.

A quick one whilst I hammer away at the epic art of Annihilator, here’s a cover to ETERNAL from Boom studios. I particularly like the lime green, it makes me thirsty tho.

Hello! Well, I was supposed to be signing copies of my new series Annihilator at Forbidden Planet tomorrow, but due to gremlins and planetary alignments this has been moved to next week instead when the comics will be in the UK.

So that’s my day-out-of-the-cave cancelled then. In lieu of having no comics to show u, I offer up the sketch and b/w art for the Multiversity variant I posted a little while ago.

I will now return to the twighlight realm between my cintiq and reality.

Hola, comrades.
Been a while since I stuck my head out of the pit, and I can confirm that it’s still raining. I have also been hard at work drawing ANNIHILATOR which sees publication in a couple of short weeks. Expect me to whore myself out a bit during that glorious period.
In the meantime, one of my covers has been previewed online, so I’ll add to that here. My variant for MULTIVERSITY is above, and contains my take on some classic DC characters from another Earth. I have been told that one of them looks like Jared Leto, but I’m not so sure I see it.
Ok, time to get back inside the cave. Let me know when the hot wet weather has ended and I can rejoin the world kthx.

let-me-be-loyal asked: you're my favourite artist :3 I was wondering if you had any posters for sale online? Also in any video you do you cut out the part where you give it a really interesting texture :L I'm sure you have reasons but I'd really like to see how you do it

No posters/prints as of yet, but I’m thinking about starting that up this year simply because of the number of requests. As for the texture bit, it’s just dabs with a photoshop brush, just like with real painting. I stopped using pre-made textures a while back, so now I paint them freehand with a variety of custom brushes in potatoshop. i think the reason that part of the vid is cut is down to my forgetfullness to record :/ You may get to see the painting process a bit clearer in later vids, once I get around to posting them that is.

Anonymous asked: Hey, Mr Irving, can't you give us a tiny little preview of Annihilator? A sketch, maybe? Please? I mean, it's been a while since the cover for the first issue was revealed... I won't tell anyone. I p-r-o-m-i-s-e.

Wish I could, as I think it’s the best stuff I’ve done yet, however I’d get shouted at if I showed stuff without permission :( As soon as I’m allowed to post teasers, I’ll do so.

Anonymous asked: DO you sell your original art?

There ain’t none! It’s all digital now, so the original art aspect has ceased to exist. I must find a way around this…

I drew this cover variant for Superman Unchained at the start of the year, and it’s been published finally hence me sharing it sans le logo etc. I’m seeing the Richard Corben influence creeping in more and more, which is strange considering that I was actively repulsed by his work during my formative years (i like it now tho).

One day to go until LSCC at Excel in London, and I’m still chained to my desk drawing Annihilator pages. They’re spooky pages too. I need my blanket…

Until I can show u such stuff tho, all I have are my covers to share. the latest bunch to be released from the cage are for another series from Boom! comics, this time it’s a 4-part series about folks who come back from the dead, titled The Returned.

This link here gives more detail, as well as some fun commentary. I’ll be sat with the Boom! folks all weekend at LSCC, so feel free to drop by and say hello.
